h. Active diagnosis

It is possible to have a dialogue with the engine control unit by means of the F/L Tester; in this way the errors memory can be read and cancelled after having repaired the faults. The F/L Tester is capable of displaying:

  • battery voltage;
  • air temperature;
  • coolant temperature;
  • engine rpm;
  • ignition advance;
  • injection time;
  • multiplication factor;
  • Lambda integrator;
  • Lambda sensor voltage;
  • Lambda sensor state;
  • butterfly angle;
  • nominal engine speed;
  • engine idle speed regulator;
  • idle contact state (open/closed);
  • Lambda sensor level;
  • heavy load;
  • charcoal filter solenoid valve (opening percentage);
  • open-closed loop;
  • electronic key state.

In addition to displaying the parameters, the active diagnosis can be carried out and the errors read. During the active diagnosis the F/L is capable of:

  • activating the following actuators:
    1. injector,
    2. petrol vapour solenoid cut out valve,
    3. idle adjustment motor,
    4. rev counter;
  • adjusting the ignition advance;
  • cancelling the errors memory;
  • sending the Security Code to the engine control unit.

The following failures can be displayed:

  • control unit (not working properly);
  • engine rpm sensor error;
  • Lambda sensor error;
  • Lambda sensor extreme correction positions;
  • mixture strength error (rich/poor);
  • coolant temperature sensor error;
  • air temperature sensor error;
  • butterfly position sensor track 1 error;
  • butterfly position sensor track 2 error;
  • engine idle speed regulator broken;
  • idle contact in implausible position;
  • electronic key error.

i. Coded anti-theft device

The coded anti-starting function is an anti-theft device managed by the injection/ignition control unit which only allows the engine to be started up after the personalized four figure code which is contained in the control unit permanent memory is introduced via the keyboard located in the dashboard.
