PAINTING WORKS

No particular safety arrangements need to be observed for painting works with subsequent oven drying given that the modules in particular are designed so that by heating the external surfaces of the car, with the normal paint drying systems, they do not suffer damage.

The use of open flames near the modules is prohibited.

All electronic control units (including that of the Air Bag system control) must always be removed if their temperature in certain environments can reach or exceed 85°C.

Interventions after an accident

[Warning Icon] If any component of the safety system is damaged as a result of an accident, it MUST be replaced.
Do not attempt to repair the control unit, the spiral cable and the Air Bag modules.

ACCIDENTS WITH OR WITHOUT AIR BAG ACTIVATION

Some components of the system must always be inspected after an accident, both in the case that the system has activated, and in the case that it HAS NOT activated. These components are:

• Steering column;
• Steering column supports;
• Electronic control unit and module anchoring area;
• Spiral cable;
• Dash panel (in the passenger side Air Bag module area).

The presence of distortions, breaks and bends must result in the replacement of the component.

ACCIDENTS WITH AIR BAG ACTIVATION

Some components of the system must be replaced in the event that the car has suffered a impact resulting in the activation of the system. These components are:

• Air Bag modules
• Electronic control unit

Regarding the wiring and connectors, they must be inspected in order to identify any signs of burning, melting of the external insulation or damage due to excessive heat.

Any signs of damage present on the spiral cable and in the area of anchoring of the electronic control unit and Air Bag modules must result in the replacement of the damaged components.

Health hazards

The precautions to be observed in the case of handling activated Air Bag modules are as follows:

• use polyethylene protective gloves and safety goggles;
• after touching triggered Air Bag units, wash hands and exposed body parts with water and soap.
