1.6 16v

Removing

Place the vehicle on a ramp and raise it.

1. Undo the bolt fixing the bracke to the gearbox.

2. Undo the bolt (2a) fixing the crossmember and remove the reaction rod (2b).

1.8 16v

Removing

Place the car on a ramp.

Raise the vehicle.

1. Undo the bolt fixing the reaction rod to the mounting bracket.

2. Undo the bolt (2a) fixing the frame and remove the reaction rod (2b).

2.4 20v

Removing

Place the car on a lift.

Raise the car.

1. Release the flexible buffer for the flexible section of the exhaust pipe from the pin on the bodyshell.

2. Undo the bolt fixing the reaction rod to the mounting bracket.

3. Undo the bolt (3a) fixing it to the chassis and remove the reaction rod (3b).

1.9 JTD 16v

Removing

Place the car on a ramp.

1. Undo the bolt fixing the rod to the mounting bracket.

2. Undo the fixing bolt (2a) on the front suspension crossmember and remove the lower gearbox reaction rod (2b).

1.6 16v

Refitting

Place the reaction rod back in its housing.

Tighten the bolt fixing the crossmember to the recommended torque.

Position the bolt and tighten it to the recommended torque.

1.8 16v

Refitting

Position the power unit lower reaction rod.

Tighten the bolt fixing the rod to the frame to torque.

Tighten the bolt fixing the reaction rod to the mounting bracket to torque.

Lower the vehicle.

Remove the car from the lift.

2.4 20v

Refitting

Position the power unit lower reaction rod.

Tighten the bolt fixing the rod to the frame to torque.

Tighten the bolt fixing the reaction rod to the mounting bracket to torque.

Secure the flexible buffer for the flexible section of the exhaust pipe to the pin on the bodyshell.

Lower the vehicle.

Remove the vehicle from the lift.

1.9 JTD 16v

Refitting

Fit the lower gearbox reaction rod.

Tighten the bolts fixing the rod to the gearbox to torque.

Tighten the bolts fixing the reaction rod to the suspension crossmember to torque.

Remove the vehicle from the lift.
