Input and output shafts

10. Rotate control shaft until spring pin in shaft is aligned with groove in gearcase.
11. Assemble tool 18G 1684 to gearcase, tighten bolt on tool until gearcase is released from torque converter housing.
12. Lift gearcase vertically off torque converter housing.

CAUTION: Ensure that differential assembly does not drop out of gearcase as it is removed. Do not remove idler shaft at this stage.

13. Remove tool 18G 1684, remove and discard gasket.

Input and output shafts

1. Remove reverse gear collar from output shaft.
2. Remove reverse gear from output shaft, recover needle bearing.

3. Remove special bolt securing reverse shift fork to shift shaft, discard tab washer.
4. Suitably mark reverse selector to denote which side of selector is towards reverse gear, remove selector and shift fork.
