INSTRUMENT LIGHTING - DESCRIPTION

1.2 8v, 1.3 Multijet, 1.4 16v

DESCRIPTION

The car is equipped with numerous light sources for optimal lighting of interior instruments and controls.

Some of these controls are lit with the ignition key to MAR (INT), others with the side lights on, others can be dimmed in accordance with a rheostat-controlled adjustment strategy managed by the Body Computer and instrument panel.

With the side lights on, the Body Computer manages the lighting of:

  • cigar lighter;
  • radio display (aftermarket versions only);
  • backlit heater / manual air conditioner controls.

The Body Computer manages the exterior lights activation information and transmits it over the B-CAN.

The brightness of the instrument panel and other vehicle controls and displays (radio and climate control, where fitted) can be set by adjusting the level in the special Set-up menu on the instrument panel. Press the ESC, + and - keys to the right of the instrument panel.

The dimmed lighting is managed differently according to the instrument panel fitted (COMFORT or MATRIX).

In both trim levels the control panel is equipped with a brightness sensor that discriminates between night (night time) and day (daylight) conditions in order to suitably manage the lighting of the vehicle controls and displays.

The dimmed lighting can be adjusted to 8 different levels of brightness.

DAYLIGHT CONDITION with exterior lights switched on:

  • The COMFORT display is lit at 100% and the brightness cannot be dimmed. The other displays are also lit to maximum intensity.
  • The MATRIX display is illuminated to the previously set level. It can always be adjusted; the other displays are lit to maximum intensity.

NIGHT TIME CONDITION with exterior lights switched on:

  • The instrument panel display, radio and climate control displays and controls are lit at the set level of brightness.

The brightness cannot be turned down to zero and the warning lights cannot be adjusted.

For further details,

See descriptions 5560 INSTRUMENTS

The dimming value is transmitted by the instrument panel via the B-CAN to allow the set brightness value to be sent to the other control units.

All the other controls are lit up when the ignition is on (INT).

The function is managed by the Body Computer and the individual lines are protected by a fuse located inside it.
