Diagnosis table

The vehicle does not start

When the vehicle is stationary and the engine is running, if the accelerator is pressed the vehicle will not start at all (the clutch does not engage).

First check:
– intactness and correct connection of connectors K94, M85 and M10 (wiring diagrams: E7040 “ELECTRONIC CLUTCH” and E5010 “STARTING AND RECHARGING”).

Step Validity Operation to be performed Test results
All OK Problems found Intervention
1 CHECK THROTTLE POTENTIOMETER WIRING K94
Disconnect connector K94 and turn the key to MAR.
Connect a digital multimeter (set to read Volt as follows:
– black probe to connector K94 pin 2
– red probe to connector K94 pin 3.
~ 5 Volt should be read.
Go to Step 2 No voltage is read. The ECU is not powered. Perform the next check
Turn the key to STOP. Disconnect connector K94.
Disconnect connector M85.
Connect a digital multimeter (set to read Ohm) between connector K94 pin 1 and connector M85 pin 35.
~ 0 Ω should be read.
Perform the next check If > 10 Ω is read, the connection between ECU and potentiometer internal resistance is uncertain. Restore the connection between connector K94 pin 1 and connector M85 pin 35.
(wiring diagram: E7040 “ELECTRONIC CLUTCH”)
Connect a digital multimeter (set to read Ohm) between connector K94 pin 2 and connector M85 pin 5.
~ 0 Ω should be read.
Perform the next check > 10 Ω is read, the connection between potentiometer cursor and ECU is uncertain. Restore the connection between connector K94 pin 2 and connector M85 pin 5. (wiring diagram: E7040 “ELECTRONIC CLUTCH”)
Connect a digital multimeter (set to read Ohm) between connector K94 pin 3 and connector M85 pin 6.
~ 0 Ω should be read
Perform the next check If > 10 Ω is read, the connection between ECU and potentiometer internal resistance is uncertain. Restore the connection between connector K94 pin 3 and connector M85 pin 6.
