Components catalogue

At the end of the manual there is a complete key of all the electrical components, according to their identity code.

The first letter of this code groups the components into families and types: connections, earths, motors, sensors, etc.

This same list is then arranged in alphabetical order, to make component tracing as easy as possible.

ELEMENTARY VERIFICATIONS OF ELECTRICAL LINES AND COMPONENTS

A series of elementary tests are included for the verification of the lines and the more common components installed in the car electrical system. These are to be referred to when verifying the continuity of an electrical connection, to check the integrity and efficiency of an electrical component or its correct operation.

All these tests can be carried out with a tester that has a scale to read the resistance (ohmmeter), voltage (voltmeter) and current (ammeter). Before starting any measurement, check that the contact terminals are not oxidised and do not have any traces of foreign material (oil, dirt, etc...). In such cases carefully clean the terminals.

To find fast voltage variations, for example, the control voltage at the geared motor terminals, it is advised to also use a polarity detector. This signals whether between the tip and the terminal there is a potential difference, regardless of the value or the polarity.

To measure the current absorption a tester is not sufficient; it is necessary to use an ammeter clamp.
