Gear drive mechanism: repairing > < Clutch pump: removing and installing
Removing
Removing
–  With the ignition switched off disconnect battery earth strap.
  Note!
For vehicles fitted with a coded radio, first check the anti-theft code.
–  Disassembling the upper engine casing.
   
–  Remove the air filter, if fitted on the left of the engine bay:
–  Release the air temperature sender connector.
–  Remove the air filter vacuum hose.
–  Release the inlet manifold hose.
–  Remove the air filter securing bolts -arrows-.
–  Remove the air filter complete with the inlet hose.

–  Uncouple the speedometer sender connector -arrow 1-.
–  Separate the reversing light connector -arrow 2-.
–  Remove the earth cable from the engine to gearbox bolt.
–  Remove the upper bolts that secure the engine to the gearbox.

–  Separate the control rod (with counterweight) -A- from the selector rod and move to one side.
–  Remove the short selector rod -B- by levering. First open the clip.

–  Remove the long selection rod -C- from the coupling lever. First open the clip.

–  Remove the two upper bolts -arrows- from the left console for the gearbox support.
–  Remove the central bolt that joins the central console to the left hand side elastic bush of the engine.

–  Separate the electric connections and cables from the starter motor cable support -arrow 1-.
–  Separate the starter motor electric cables.
–  Remove the bolt securing the starter motor cable support -arrow 2- and remove the support.
–  Remove the upper bolt -arrow 2- from the starter motor.

–  Remove the bolt securing the front engine support -arrow-.

–  Remove the central bolt -arrow- from the rear right console, from the engine to the sub-frame.

–  Fit Support assembly -U-30025 E-.
  Note!
Remove all cable brackets, cables and hoses that could interfere with the fitting of the support tool.
–  Tighten the spindles on tool -U-30025 E-.
–  Remove the insulation tray: → General Body Repairs, Exterior; Rep. Gr.50

–  Remove the clutch coil -arrows- and fit it above; support it with a wire and do not open the pipes.
  Note!
Do not depress the clutch pedal.

–  Unbolt the PAS pipe bracket -arrow 1-.
  Note!
t  To keep the connections out of the way tie them to the bodywork or some other element with a piece of string or wire.
t  The connections must be pulled aside without twisting or stretching them, so that they are out of the way when removing and fitting the gearbox.
–  Removing the starter motor: → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27.
–  Separate the front console from the elastic bush.
–  Remove the lower bolts fron the engine/gearbox joint -arrow 2-.

–  Remove the lower securing bolt of the rear left console to gearbox -arrow- and remove the console.

–  Removing the counterweight -A- from the sub-frame. Mark fitting position.
–  Remove the protective cover for the driveshaft.
–  Turn the wheels left.
–  Remove the right-hand driveshaft from the flanged shaft and support it as high up as possible. Remove left-hand driveshaft: → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. Gr.40

–  Remove the flywheel small protective cover -A-, located behind the right-hand articulation flange -arrows- (if fitted).
–  Tilt the engine slightly by turning the -U-30025 B- support tool left-hand spindle.
–  Fit tool -T20145- together with tool -T20138- on top of jack -SAT 1040 or SAT 1001 A-.

–  Place the jack below the gearbox, and secure tool -T20138- to the gearbox, in such a way that it is secure.
–  Remove the lower bolt, interior side, joining engine/gearbox.
–  Release the gearbox from the centring bushes, move it slightly upwards and turn it backwards to free the right-hand articulation flange from the flywheel. Remove the gearbox, taking care not to damage any element.
  Note!
On lowering the gearbox be careful with the PAS pipe.
