Transponder receiver (aerial)

This component is located near the ignition switch and identifies a transponder code supplied by the ignition key.

The key communicates with the receiver electromagnetically.

The receiver is connected directly to the Fiat-CODE control unit and supplies it with the key access code.

Card containing access code

The manufacturer supplies a specific card with the car. Thsi shows a recognition code, which allows access to the Fiat-CODE control unit memory.

The code is essential for carrying out any test operations. The User’s card must therefore be kept in a safe place.

The manufacturer keeps a table which matches each chassis produced with its own specific code. If the user loses the access code card, the car owner must go to a Fiat authorised workshop or dealer and display an identication document and the owner’s handbook showing the car chassis number.

The dealer then contacts the manufacturer in order to match the chassis number with the access code using the table of cars assembled on the assembly line.

NOTE The code present on the chart is covered by a removable paint layer to ensure safety.
