The engine gives off a cyclic noise when warm during abrupt accelerating and using high gears

NOTE: Preliminarily check:
– type of fuel
– absence of water or dirt in the tank

1		Run a road test and check that when accelerating sharply and using high gears the noise takes on a metallic sound	Metallic sound: Go to Step 2
2		CHECK WITH DIAGNOSTIC TOOL Connect the diagnostic tool (Examiner or other tools) to the diagnostic socket. Check: – no faults in the engine ECU – plausibility of all parameters	Go to Step 3	Problems found	Intervention
				Error detected in the ECU	Continue as shown by the diagnostic tool
				Failed dialogue with the ECU	Restore connection between engine ECU and diagnostic socket (Wiring diagram: E5030 “PETROL ENGINE ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT”)
3		CHECK PISTON CROWN Remove cylinder head and check intactness of piston crown	Go to Step 4	Problems found	Intervention
3			Go to Step 4	Scaling on piston crown	Eliminate scaling or replace pistons and connecting rods PROCEDURE 1028C
