Operation 1056B14 · Multi-point injection system (mpi)

1.8 16v

Removing

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

- 1048A28 vacuum air circuit resonator pipe - r+r

1. Disconnect electrical connections (1a) and (1b) from the throttle body.

2. Disconnect throttle casing pipe.

2.4 20v

Removing

- 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r.

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

- 5530B52 Battery DRIP TRAY/SUPPORT - R.R.

- 1056B82 injection/ignition system e.c.u. (one) - r + r

- 1048A31 RIGID PIPE between air filter and intake manifold - R.R..

1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the integrated throttle body actuator.

2. Undo the (2a) and disconnect the control unit earth lead (2b).

3. Undo the bolts (3a) and remove the throttle casing (3b) complete with control unit mounting and gasket (3c).

1. Undo the retaining bolts (1a) and remove the throttle casing (1b).

2.4 20v

Refitting

Proceed with the refitting as described below.

If the throttle casing is being replaced, the control unit learning procedure must be carried out at the end of the refitting procedure; 1056B14 throttle case - r + r

Connect the control unit earth lead and tighten the fixing bolt.

- 1048A31 RIGID PIPE between air filter and intake manifold - R.R..

- 1056B82 injection/ignition system e.c.u. (one) - r + r

- 5530B52 Battery DRIP TRAY/SUPPORT - R.R.

Connect the battery negative terminal lead.

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

- 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r.

1.8 16v

Refitting

Fit the throttle casing into the seat on the modular intake manifold.

Tighten the bolts retaining the throttle casing to the intake manifold.

Connect the throttle casing coolant pipe and the engine oil vapour pipe.

Connect the electrical connections disconnected previously.

Connect the battery negative terminal.
