FRONT VALANCE ASSEMBLY

Remove

  1. Disconnect battery earth lead.
  2. Raise front of vehicle.

WARNING: Support on safety stands.

  1. Disconnect all ECUs.
  2. Disconnect airbags and sensor system.

WARNING: See RESTRAINT SYSTEMS, Precautions.

  1. Disconnect alternator.
  2. Remove front bumper. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  3. Remove front bumper armature. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  4. Remove front fender.
  5. Remove headlamp. See Workshop Manual, Electrical, Repairs
  6. Remove front grille. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  7. Remove wheel arch liner. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  8. Remove undertray. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  9. Remove splash shield. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  10. Remove front suspension. See Workshop Manual, Front suspension, Repairs.
  11. Remove engine. See Workshop Manual, Engine, Repairs.

Refit

Front valance assembly – Remove engine. See Workshop Manual, Engine, Repairs.
  1. Prepare and clean panel joint faces. Punch or drill holes in new panel for plug welding as shown.

WARNING: When replacing a RH valance assembly, remove ALL traces of adhesive from the suspension turret front edge before plug welding.

  1. Refit engine. See Workshop Manual, Engine.
  2. Refit front suspension. See Workshop Manual, Front suspension, Repairs.
  3. Refit splash shield. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  4. Refit undertray. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  5. Refit wheel arch liner. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  6. Refit front grille. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  7. Refit headlamp. See Workshop Manual, Electrical, Repairs.
  8. Refit front fender.
  9. Refit front bumper armature. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  10. Refit front bumper. See BODY, Exterior fittings.
  11. Reconnect alternator.
  12. Reconnect airbags and sensor system.
  13. Reconnect all ECUs.
  14. Remove stands and lower vehicle.
  15. Reconnect battery earth lead.
