Mark the opposite position of the shaft of the power-steering gear and the universal joint.

Remove the universal joint in -direction of arrow- from the shaft of the power-steering gear.

Unclip cable guide -2- on the steering column -arrows- and remove wiring loom -1- with cable guide.

Remove cable strap -3- from the steering column in the direction of the arrow.
For vehicles up to MY 2010

Open the cover -2- of the cable guide -1- and remove wiring loom -3-.

Detach the cable strap -4- from the steering column.

For reasons of clarity the work steps in the following figures are shown on a removed steering column, i.e. without background.

Secure the bottom part -1- and top part -2- of the steering column against separation (only on steering columns with steering wheel adjustment).
To do so use the transport security -3- of a replacement part (the new steering column) or attach the top and bottom part of the steering column e.g. with wire.

Unscrew bolt -1- of bushing.

Nut for screw -1- welded to the central pipe

Release screws -arrows-.

Carefully pull out the steering column -1- through the dash panel opening in the vehicle.

If the old steering column is installed again do not remove the bushing -2-.

The bushing -2- must only be removed if damaged.

Release screw -3-.

Remove the bushing -2- from the steering column fork -4-.

Steering columns are supplied as a spare part with ignition lock housing but without lock cylinder and ignition starter switch.

If the lock cylinder and ignition starter switch of the removed steering column are O.K., they must be fitted in the new steering column.
