BRAKE LIGHTS - FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

1.3 JTD 16v · SUV

Operational description

The brake pedal switch I030:

  • at pin 4 receives an ignition-operated supply from the line protected by fuse F37;
  • at pin 2, when pressed, it sends the brake pedal pressed signal to pin 5 connector B of the body computer node M001;
  • for vehicles equipped with ABS, this signal reaches the body computer node M001 and the ABS control unit M050
  • See E7020 ABS

The connection between the switch I030 and the junction unit under the dashboard B002 via the coupling D001. The coupling is housed, in the passenger compartment, in the lower part of the right front pillar, near the door cable loom, passenger side.

Having received the signal, the body computer node:

  • at pin 5 connector E supplies the brake lights housed in the rear light clusters F030 B and F031 B;
  • at pin 6 connector E supplies the brake lights housed in the additional rear light cluster F040.

The body computer node monitors the correct operation of the lights system signalling any failure by switching on the "lights failure" warning light in the instrument panel E050 in the following circumstances:

  • open load;
  • short circuit to earth;
  • short circuit to + battery.

Functional description

Bbrake pedal switch I030:

  • pin 4 receives a supply controlled by the ignition from the line protected by fuse F37;
  • when pressed, pin 2 sends the brake pedal depressed signal to pin 5 connector B of body computer node M001;
  • on cars with ABS, this signal is distributed from short circuiting junction D097C to body computer node M001 and ABS control unit M050 See E7020 ABS.

Connection between switch I030 and underfacia junction unit B002 via junction D001. The junction is housed in the passenger compartment area in the lower part of the right front pillar near the passenger side door wiring channel.

Once it has received the signal, the body computer node:

  • pin 5 connector E supplies the brake lights housed in tail-lights F030 and F031;
  • pin 6 connector E supplies the brake lights housed in supplementary tail-light F040.

The body computer node monitors the light system to ensure it is working correctly and indicates any faults by turning on the lighting failure warning light on instrument panel E050 under the following conditions:

  • load open;
  • short circuit to earth;
  • short circuit to +battery.
