Camshaft idler gears - replace

1.2 16v

Removing

Place the car on a ramp.

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

- 1048A10 air cleaner filtering element - replace

- 1048A32 sleeve from air cleaner to intake manifold - r + r

- 1056B60 single fuel manifold pipe, with injectors - r + r

- 1036L40 mount for seal on camshaft in cylinder head extension complete with coil/s - includes cleaning of mating surfaces sealant application

1. Remove the protective plugs for the camshaft in the front and rear camshaft housings.

2. Rotate the camshaft, using small movements, and fit the tool.

Removing

Place the car on a lift.

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

- 1048A32 sleeve from air cleaner to intake manifold - r + r

- 1048A10 air cleaner filtering element - replace

- 1056B60 single fuel manifold pipe, with injectors - r + r

- 1036L40 mount for seal on camshaft in cylinder head extension complete with coil/s - includes cleaning of mating surfaces sealant application

1. Remove the protective plugs from the camshaft in the front and rear camshaft housings.

2. Rotate the camshaft, using small movements, and fit the tools.

1.9 JTD 16v

Proceed as described in the operation:

Refer to op. 1036L10 camshafts in cylinder head extension - r r - includes cylinder head extension replacement if necessary

1. Undo the fixing bolts (1a) and remove the two camshaft idler gears (1b).

1. Undo the fixing bolts (1a) and remove the two camshaft idler gears (1b).

Refitting

Fit the two camshaft idler gears and tighten the fixing bolts to torque.

Remove the tool for timing the camshafts and tightening the protective plugs to torque.

- 1056B60 single fuel manifold pipe, with injectors - r + r

- 1048A32 sleeve from air cleaner to intake manifold - r + r

Connect the battery negative terminal.

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R..

Remove the vehicle from the ramp.

1.4 16v

Refitting

Fit the two camshaft idler gears and tighten the fixing bolts to torque.

Remove the tools for timing the camshafts and tightening the protective plugs to torque.

- 1056B60 single fuel manifold pipe, with injectors - r + r

- 1048A10 air cleaner filtering element - replace

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

Remove the vehicle from the lift.
