1.2 16v

Removing

Place the car on a ramp.

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

1. Disconnect the engine rpm sensor.

1.2 16v · Air Conditioner

Removing

Place the car on a ramp.

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

1. Disconnect the engine rpm sensor.

1.4 16v

Removing

Place the car on a lift.

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

1. Disconnect the rpm sensor electrical wiring.

2. Disconnect the electrical connection for the engine oil pressure switch.

1.6 16v

Removing

Place the vehicle on a ramp.

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 4450B10 Front WHEEL (one) - R.R.

- 1008B10 power unit front mount (timing side) flexible block - replace

- 1008A46 cam shaft left rigid mount - r r

1. Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the timing gear cover (1b).

1.8 16v

Removing

- 4450B10 Front WHEEL (one) - R.R.

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 1092B80 auxiliary belt fixed tensioner (one) - r+r

1. Undo the fixing bolt (1a) and remove the various components drive belt fixed tensioner (1b).

2. Undo the fixing bolts (2a) and remove the timing belt shield (2b).

2.4 20v

Removing

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 1092D10 air conditioner compressor drive belt - r + r

- 1092B68 belt from a/c compressor to alternator drive r + r

1. Using a 5 mm diameter socket wrench specially shortened, undo the bolts fixing the shield.

2. Remove the timing belt guard.

1.9 JTD 8v

Removing

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

- 1092G10 single engine belt r r

- 1092A12 crankshaft pulley - r+r for versions with air conditioner

Lower the lift.

1. Disconnect the electrical connections for the engine management control unit.

2. Undo the fixing nut (2a) and release the earth lead (2b) from its fastening on the bodyshell.

Disconnect the water recirculation coolant reservoir pipe from the band on the rigid engine pipe.

1.9 JTD 16v

Removing

Place the car on a lift.

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r.

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R..

- 1092G10 single engine belt r r.

- 1092G14 engine component single belt mobile tensioner - r + r.

- 1092G21 engine component single belt fixed tensioner - r rwith belt removed

1. Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the lower protective timing cover (1b).

1.2 16v

Release the electrical wiring for the rpm sensor from the retaining bands.

1. Undo the fixing bolt (1a), remove the engine rpm sensor coupling (1b) from the housing, then remove the timing belt upper protective cover (1c), releasing the sensor electrical wiring.

1.2 16v · Air Conditioner

Release the electrical wiring for the rpm sensor from the retaining bands.

1. Undo the fixing bolt (1a), remove the engine rpm sensor coupling (1b) from the housing, then remove the timing belt upper protective cover (1c), releasing the sensor electrical wiring.

1.4 16v

Release the electrical wiring for the rpm sensor from the retaining bands.

1. Undo the fixing bolt (1a), then remove the upper timing protective cover (1b) releasing the electrical wiring for the rpm sensor.

1.6 16v

Refitting

Fit the timing gear cover and fix it using the bolts.

- 1008A46 cam shaft left rigid mount - r r

- 1008B10 power unit front mount (timing side) flexible block - replace

- 4450B10 Front WHEEL (one) - R.R.

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r

Remove the car from the ramp.

1.8 16v

Refitting

Fit the timing belt shield and tighten the fixing bolts to the recommended torque.

Fit the various components drive belt fixed tensioner and tighten the fixing bolt to the recommended torque.

- 1092B80 auxiliary belt fixed tensioner (one) - r+r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 4450B10 Front WHEEL (one) - R.R.

2.4 20v

Refitting

Fit the timing belt guard.

Tighten the retaining bolts.

- 1092B68 belt from a/c compressor to alternator drive r + r

- 1092D10 air conditioner compressor drive belt - r + r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

1.9 JTD 8v

1. Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the upper timing protective cover (1b).

1.9 JTD 16v

Lower the lift.

1. Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the upper front protective timing cover (1b).

1.2 16v

Raise the ramp.

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R. RIGHT SIDE PROTECTION

- 1092B60 alternator drive belt - r + r

- 1092A10 Crankshaft services PULLEY - R.R.

1. Undo the fixing bolts (1a) and remove the lower protective timing cover (1b).

1.2 16v · Air Conditioner

Raise the ramp.

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R. RIGHT SIDE PROTECTION

- 1092B60 alternator drive belt - r + r

- 1092A12 crankshaft pulley - r+r for versions with air conditioner

1. Undo the fixing bolts (1a) and remove the lower protective timing cover (1b).

1.4 16v

Raise the lift.

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 1092B60 alternator drive belt - r + r

- 1092A10 Crankshaft services PULLEY - R.R.

1. Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the lower protective timing cover (1b).

1.9 JTD 8v

Raise the vehicle.

1. Undo the bolt (1a) and remove the fixed single drive belt tensioner (1b).

2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the timing belt bottom guard (2b).

1.9 JTD 16v

1. Undo the bolts fixing the rigid water recirculation pipe.

Open the bands securing the engine wiring.

2. Disconnect the recirculation pipe from the engine coolant reservoir.

1.2 16v

Refitting

Fit the lower protection and tighten the fixing bolts.

- 1092A10 Crankshaft services PULLEY - R.R.

- 1092B60 alternator drive belt - r + r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R. RIGHT SIDE PROTECTION

Lower the lift.

Fit the coupling for the rpm sensor in the housing in the upper cover.

Fit the upper protective cover and secure it using the bolts.

Secure the electrical wiring for the rpm sensor to the retaining bands.

Connect the rpm sensor.

Connect the battery negative terminal.

Remove the vehicle from the ramp.

1.2 16v · Air Conditioner

Refitting

Fit the lower protection and tighten the fixing bolts.

- 1092A12 crankshaft pulley - r+r for versions with air conditioner

- 1092B60 alternator drive belt - r + r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R. RIGHT SIDE PROTECTION

Lower the lift.

Fit the coupling for the rpm sensor in the housing in the upper cover.

Fit the upper protective cover and secure it using the bolts.

Secure the electrical wiring for the rpm sensor to the retaining bands.

Connect the rpm sensor.

Connect the battery negative terminal.

Remove the vehicle from the ramp.

1.4 16v

Refitting

Fit the lower protection and tighten the fixing bolts.

- 1092A10 Crankshaft services PULLEY - R.R.

- 1092B60 alternator drive belt - r + r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

Lower the ramp.

Fit the coupling for the rpm sensor in the housing in the upper cover.

Fit the upper protective cover and secure it using the bolts.

Secure the rpm sensor and low engine oil pressure electrical wiring to the timing belt protective cover.

Connect the engine rpm sensor electrical connector.

Connect the electrical connection for the engine oil pressure switch.

Connect the battery negative terminal.

Remove the vehicle from the lift.

1.9 JTD 8v

Refitting

Fit the lower protective timing cover and fix it using the bolts.

Fit the single belt fixed tensioner and fix it tightening the bolt to the recommended torque.

Lower the vehicle.

Fit the upper timing belt guard.

Connect the water recirculation pipe to the power unit side band.

Connect the electrical connections for the engine management control unit.

Secure the earth lead to the fastening on the bodyshell and tighten the fixing nut.

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

1.9 JTD 16v

1. Undo the bolts fixing the coolant reservoir.

1. Undo the bolts (1a) fixing the upper rear protective cover for the timing belt, then lift up the rigid recirculation pipe and remove the upper rear protective timing cover (1b).

Refitting

Fit the upper rear protective timing gear cover and fix it using the bolts.

Tighten the bolts fixing the coolant reservoir.

Connect the recirculation pipe to the engine coolant reservoir.

Tighten the bolts fixing the rigid water recirculation pipe to the single camshaft housing.

Fit the upper front protective timing gear cover and fix it using the bolts.

Raise the lift.

Fit the lower protective timing cover and fix it using the bolts.

- 1092G21 engine component single belt fixed tensioner - r rwith belt removed

- 1092G14 engine component single belt mobile tensioner - r + r.

- 1092G10 single engine belt r r.

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R..

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r.

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r.

Connect the battery negative terminal.

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r.

Remove the vehicle from the lift.
