AIR INTAKE SYSTEM - MPi

Air intake system - mpi
  1. Air cleaner element
  2. Throttle disc
  3. Idle air control valve
  4. Inlet manifold
  5. Injector

Intake air is drawn into the throttle body through an air filter element. Incorporated in the throttle body are the throttle disc and the throttle position sensor.

Air passes from the throttle body to the inlet manifold where it is mixed with fuel injected by the injectors before the mixture is drawn into the combustion chamber.

  1. Evaporative emission cannister, purge valve
  2. Evaporative emission cannister
  3. Engine Control Module (ECM)
  4. Fuel trap - green connection to ECM

Inlet manifold depression is measured via a hose, by the MAP sensor which is incorporated in the ECM. A signal from the MAP sensor is used by the ECM to calculate the amount of fuel delivered by the injectors.
