CLUTCH SYSTEM OPERATION

The diaphragm spring clutch is operated via a self-adjusting cable attached at one end to the clutch pedal and at the other end to the release lever.

When the clutch pedal is depressed the clutch cable transmits movement to the relases lever. The release fork attached to the release lever shaft converts the rotary movement into linear movement pushing the release bearing against the pressure plate diaphragm fingers. The movement of the diaphragm fingers releases pressure from the the clutch plate.

When pressure is released from the clutch pedal the diaphragm fingers push the release bearing back forcing the clutch plate against the flywheel.
