Replace airbag contact unit   Remove 1.   Disconnect battery 2.   Wait 1 minute for airbag to deactivate 3.   Remove driver's side airbag •   Turn steering wheel 90° (I) •   Push retaining wire in direction of steering column using small screwdriver in service opening (II) and remove airbag module Note:   Ensure that the retaining wire is not bent. •   Release and disconnect wiring harness plug 4.   Disconnect wiring harness plug (1) for signal horn / Infotainment 5.   Detach steering wheel from steering column Note:   Ensure that the wheels are in a straightahead position. •   Unscrew bolt (2) •   Pull steering wheel from steering shaft 6.   Detach signal switch panelling •   Remove 2x panel •   Unscrew 2x bolt (arrows) – Raise upper panelling (1) •   Unscrew 3x bolt (arrows) – Remove lower panelling (2) 7.   Remove CIM module •   Unscrew 3x bolt (arrows) •   Disconnect wiring harness plug. •   Unclip and remove wiring harness clamp – Remove CIM module   Install 8.   Install CIM module •   Connect wiring harness plug •   Insert CIM module •   Clip in wiring harness clamp •   Tighten 3x bolt 9.   Attach signal switch panelling •   Insert lower panelling – Tighten 3x bolt •   Insert upper panelling – Tighten 2x bolts •   Attach 2x panel 10.   Attach steering wheel to steering shaft •   Fit steering wheel to steering column Note:   Ensure that the marks on the steering wheel and the steering shaft align. 11.   Tighten bolt 30 Nm Note:   Clean thread and fit new bolt with locking compound. 12.   Connect wiring harness plug for signal horn / Infotainment 13.   Install driver's side airbag •   Connect and latch wiring harness plug •   Clip in 2x clip 14.   Perform readiness check 15.   Connect battery 16.   Program volatile memories Note:   When replacing the control unit, after installing the control unit, program with TECH 2.
