Refitting

- Observe the following precautions.

Do not strike or shake the control unit. Do not connect the electrial connections to the control unit before having correctly secured the control unit. Make sure that the battery is disconnected.

In the case of replacement, remove the detachable part of the adhesive label from the new module and place it in the special folder containing the vehicle details (model, registration date, chassis number) and the serial number of the old control unit. The file should be kept for future checks.

1. Position the control unit (1a). Make sure that the arrow (1b) on the top of the control unit is facing the direction of travel.

2. Screw in the bolts and tighten them to the recommended torque.

- Use an Examiner to check that the system has not acquired errors during the operation.

Some of the CAN nodes, including the Air Bag control unit, are programmed with default settings that the customer will find when they purchase the vehicle. If the control unit is being replaced, the Parts Dept. will send a pristine component: once fitted, the data memorized in the Body Computer must be transferred to it by carrying out the PROXY ALIGNMENT procedure using the Examiner.
