1.6 16v

Removing

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r

1. Remove the engine oil dipstick.

2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the engine oil dipstick pipe (2b).

3. Remove the gasket.

1.8 16v

Removing

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r

1. Undo the bolt (1a) and remove the oil dipstick tube (1b).

2.4 20v

Removing

- 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r

1. Unscrew the bolt fixing the engine oil dipstick tube from the modular inlet manifold.

Raise the lift.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

Disengage the pipe from its seating on the oil sump and remove it.

1.9 JTD 8v

Removing

1. Undo the bolt securing the engine oil dipstick tube from the pressure pump mounting.

Raise the lift.

2. Undo the bottom bolt (2a) then lower the lift and remove the oil dipstick (2b), after removing the electrical wiring fixed to it.

1.9 JTD 16v

Removing

Remove the car from the ramps.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

1. Undo the lower bolt fixing the engine oil dipstick pipe to the crankcase sump.

2. Undo the upper bolt fixing the engine oil dipstick pipe to the pressure pump mounting.

3. Remove the tube for the engine oil dipstick releasing it from the fastenings on the electrical wiring.

1.6 16v

Refitting

Place the engine oil dipstick tube complete with seal back in its housing and fix it using the bolts.

Place the engine oil dipstick back in its housing.

1.8 16v

Refitting

Place the oil dipstick tube in its seating and tighten the fixing bolt.

2.4 20v

Refitting

Fit the engine oil dipstick tube.

Replace the engine oil dipstick tube rubber seal on the sump.

Lower the lift.

Tighten the upper bolt securing the engine oil dipstick tube.

1.9 JTD 8v

Refitting

Fit the engine oil dipstick tube.

Replace the engine oil dipstick tube rubber seal on the sump.

Secure the electrical wiring to the oil dipstick tube.

Raise the lift.

Tighten the lower bolt securing the engine oil dipstick tube.

Lower the lift.

Tighten the upper bolt securing the engine oil dipstick tube.

1.9 JTD 16v

Refitting

Fit the engine oil dipstick pipe and secure it to the electrical wiring using the bands.

Tighten the upper bolt fixing the engine oil dipstick pipe to the pressure pump mounting.

Tighten the lower bolt fixing the engine oil dipstick pipe to the crankcase sump.

Remove the car from the ramps.
