FORECARRIAGE TRANSVERSE VIBRATIONS
Whilst driving, especially on unmade roads, there are transverse vibrations at the front section. This diagnosis can only be made after diagnosis
See table S015 NOISE WHILST DRIVING
Carry out the latter first.

|---|---|---|---|---|
After having carried out the road test, there is transverse vibration at the front end. See table S015 NOISE WHILST DRIVING Continue depending on the circumstances in which the vibration occurs | End of diagnosis | 1. The vibration is noticeable during take off 2. The vibration is accompanied by noise which increases with speed 3. The vibration is accompanied by noise over unmade roads | 1. Move on to Step 5 2. Move on to Step 2 3. Move on to Step 1 | |
| 1 | WHEEL SIDE CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
For the 1.3 JTD, 1.9 JTD; Raise the vehicle on a two column lift and check: - that the driveshaft-wheel side joint matching is correct; - that the seal is present. | Move on to Step 2 | 1. Incorrect matching 2. Sealing ring missing | 1. Replace the constant velocity joint and the driveshaft Op. 2710A10 DRIVESHAFT WITH JOINTS (ONE), L/H OR R/H - R + R 2. Replace the constant velocity joint and the driveshaft Op. 2710A10 DRIVESHAFT WITH JOINTS (ONE), L/H OR R/H - R + R | |
| 1 | WHEEL SIDE CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
For the 1.2 8v, 1.4 8v; Raise the vehicle on a two column lift and check: - that the driveshaft-wheel side joint matching is correct; - that the seal is present. | Move on to Step 2 | 1. Incorrect matching 2. Sealing ring missing | 1. Replace the constant velocity joint and the driveshaft Op. 2710A40 DRIVESHAFT (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT - R.R. 2. Replace the constant velocity joint and the driveshaft | |
| 2 | WHEEL SIDE JOINT CLEARANCE CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
For the 1.3 JTD, 1.9 JTD; Check that the clearance for the wheel side constant velocity joint is not too great. | Move on to Step 3 | Excessive clearance compared with the opposite wheel side joint | Replace the wheel side constant velocity joint and grease correctly | |
| 2 | WHEEL SIDE JOINT CLEARANCE CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
For the 1.2 8v, 1.4 8v; Check that the clearance for the wheel side constant velocity joint is not too great. | Move on to Step 3 | Excessive clearance compared with the opposite wheel side joint | Replace the wheel side constant velocity joint and grease correctly | |
| 3 | WHEEL SIDE JOINT SEIZING CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
For the 1.3 JTD, 1.9 JTD; Rotate the wheel by hand and check that there is no seizing of the wheel side constant velocity joint | Move on to Step 4 | There is seizing of the wheel side joint | Replace the constant velocity joint and grease correctly | |
| 3 | WHEEL SIDE JOINT SEIZING CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
For the 1.2 8v, 1.4 8v; Rotate the wheel by hand and check that there is no seizing of the wheel side constant velocity joint | Move on to Step 4 | There is seizing of the wheel side joint | Replace the constant velocity joint and grease correctly | |
| 4 | WHEEL SIDE JOINT TIGHTENING CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
Remove the left and/or right wheel. Op. 4450B02 LEFT FRONT WHEEL - R.R Op. 4450B04 RIGHT FRONT WHEEL - R.R Check that the constant velocity joint fastening nut is tightened and that the staking is in place. | Move on to Step 5 | Nut loosening | Replace the nut, restore the torque tightening and stake | |
| 5 | CLUTCH PLATE CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
For 1.9 JTD; Check that there is no irregular wear on the surface of the clutch plate. | Move on to Step 6 | Surface of the clutch plate worn unevenly | Replace the assembly | |
| 5 | CLUTCH PLATE CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
For 1.2 8v, 1.4 8v, 1.3 JTD; Check that there is no irregular wear on the surface of the clutch plate. | Move on to Step 6 | Surface of the clutch plate worn unevenly | Replace the assembly | |
| 6 | CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATION | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check that the fault is no longer present | End of diagnosis | The fault persists | The fault is due to another system (engine, gearbox, differential, suspension). Search for the cause in one of these systems, following the appropriate diagnostic procedures. | |
