REPLACING PARTIAL REAR WING

Line drawing of the rear section of a van showing the partial rear wing panel highlighted in dark shading around the wheel arch and lower side body.

The part for which the replacement procedure is described is shown in the figure above.

PRELIMINARY PROCEDURES

Establish the extent of the damage, and check connected parts for damage by checking the body shell dimensions for squareness.

If necessary, straighten the body shell using appropriate measuring equipment (measuring benches, jigs or gauges) before cutting the part. After this operation, make sure that the components not being replaced are not damaged.

PRECAUTIONS/INSTRUCTIONS AND PRELIMINARY DISMANTLING

Cover the seats and parts that could be damaged with cloths for protection.

Remove the fuel tank and disconnect the battery and all the electrical and electronic components of the vehicle, as currents generated during welding could damage them seriously.

REMOVAL AND REFITTING PROCEDURE

The panel replacement may be total or partial; the latter solution is preferable if you wish to avoid damaging another panel to which the panel in question is welded.
