Air conditioning signal

The ECM receives a signal from the air conditioning system informing it that the air conditioning switch has been pressed. It then delays the compressor from being energised and adjusts the idle speed by modifying the injector opening time to ensure a smooth transition to the air conditioning mode.

Alternator (ALT) FR Signal

The alternator is connected to the ECM and supplies information on electrical load. With this information, the ECM can adjust the idle speed to prevent electrical loading reducing idle speed. i.e. when headlights, heated rear window are switched on.

The fuel injectors are a solenoid actuated and have a pintle tip enabling fuel to be atomised efficiently. When current is applied to the solenoid coil, the valve lifts up and pressurised fuel is injected. Because the needle valve lift and the fuel pressure are constant, the injection quantity is determined by the length of time that the valve is open (i.e. the duration that current is supplied to the solenoid valve). The fuel injector is sealed by and 'O' ring and seal ring at the top and bottom. These seals also reduce operating noise.
