  1. Release gasket from fixings on camshaft cover and discard.

Refit

  1. Clean mating faces of camshaft cover and camshaft carrier.
  2. Fit new gasket to camshaft cover.
  3. Fit camshaft cover to cylinder head.
Fit camshaft cover to cylinder head.
  1. Working in the sequence shown, fit camshaft cover bolts and tighten to 12 Nm.
  2. Align brake servo vacuum pipe bracket to camshaft cover and secure with Allen screw.
  3. Clean mating faces of inlet manifold and intake pipe.
  4. Using a new gasket, position intake pipe to inlet manifold, fit bolts and tighten to 25 Nm.
  5. Position EGR recirculation pipe to inlet manifold intake pipe, fit bolts and tighten to 25 Nm.
  6. Fit bolt securing inlet manifold intake pipe to camshaft cover bracket and tighten to 9 Nm.
  7. Position sound deadening pad to engine and secure with bolts.

CAMSHAFT FRONT OIL SEAL

Remove

  1. Raise front of vehicle.

WARNING: Support on safety stands.

  1. Disconnect battery earth lead.
Camshaft front oil seal – Disconnect battery earth lead.
  1. Remove 4 bolts securing camshaft timing belt top cover.
  2. Remove top cover.
Camshaft front oil seal – Remove top cover.
  1. Restrain camshaft gear using tool 18G 1521 and loosen but do not remove camshaft gear retaining bolt.
