11. Use tool 18G 1577 to remove valve stem oil seal.

12. Repeat sequence 7 to 11 to remove second exhaust valve oil seal.

Refit

  1. Lubricate new valve stem seals with engine oil.
  2. Use tool 18G 1577 to fit new oil seals to valve stems.
  3. Fit valve spring and spring cap to each valve.

  1. Assemble tool 18G 1657 in exhaust valve position.
  2. Locate spring cap with compressor tool 18G 1657/13.
  3. Screw down compressor until valve stem collet groove is level with top face of spring cap.
  4. Use a small flat ended screwdriver, attach collets to screwdriver with grease and locate collets in valve stem groove.
  5. Release compressor from spring cap, ensure collets are located correctly.
  6. Slide head of tool 18G 1657 along to second exhaust valve position.
  7. Repeat refit sequence 5 to 8 on second valve.
  8. Remove tool 18G 1657.
  9. Lubricate tappets and refit in original positions.
  10. Repeat oil seal remove and refit sequence on inlet valves.
  11. Disconnect air line, transfer tool 18G 1657 to each spark plug position in turn and repeat oil seal remove and refit sequence.
  12. Fit spark plugs, see MAINTENANCE.
  13. Fit camshafts, see 'K' Series Engine Overhaul Manual.
  14. Fit camshaft cover.
