Remove

  1. Disconnect battery earth lead.

  1. Slacken lower fixing screw, timing belt upper front cover.
  2. Remove 5 bolts, timing belt upper front cover.
  3. Remove timing belt upper front cover and seal.

  1. Rotate crankshaft to align camshaft gear timing marks – 90° B.T.D.C.
  2. Fit camshaft locking tool 18G 1570.

  1. Slacken tensioner pulley bolt ½ turn.
  2. Slacken tensioner backplate screw ½ turn.
  3. Push tensioner pulley down to fully OFF position.
  4. Tighten backplate screw to 25 Nm.
  5. Ease timing belt from camshaft gears using fingers only.
  6. Remove bolt and plain washer from camshaft gear.
  7. Remove tool 18G 1570.
  8. Remove camshaft gear.
