  1. Remove 11 bolts from engine sump.
  2. Release gasket from bearing ladder and remove sump.
  3. Remove gasket from sump.

Refit

  1. Clean inside of sump and mating surfaces of sump and bearing ladder. Check condition of gasket, renew if damaged or showing signs of deterioration.
  2. Fit gasket to sump ensuring its 7 pegs are fully located.
  3. Fit sump to bearing ladder, lightly tighten bolts.
  4. Fit anti - beaming bracket support to sump, lightly tighten bolts.

  1. Progressively tighten as shown, sump and anti - beaming bracket support bolts to 10 Nm.
  2. Fit anti - beaming bracket, tighten support bracket bolt to 45 Nm, differential housing bolt to 90 Nm.
  3. Fit flywheel lower cover plate and exhaust support bracket, tighten bolts to 9 Nm.
  4. Connect front pipe to manifold, see MANIFOLD & EXHAUST – Repairs.
  5. Remove stand(s) and lower vehicle.
  6. Fill engine with oil, see MAINTENANCE.
  7. Connect battery earth lead.
