FLOW MODULATOR SOLENOID OPERATION CHECK

Check 1060EB

1.9 JTD 8v, 1.9 JTD 16v, 2.4 JTD 20v

STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Disconnect the cable loom connector from the flow modifying solenoid valve

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check that the voltage between pin 6 of the solenoid

See L064 FLOW MODIFYING SOLENOID VALVE

and the earth is greater than 11 V.

Move on to Step 4

Move on to Step 2
2

Turn the ignition key OFF.

In the engine compartment junction unit

remove fuse F11 (third from the right in the bottom row).

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check the voltage between the inlet contact of fuse F11 and earth. Ensure it is greater than 11 V

Replace the junction unit

Op. 5505A13 ADDITIONAL JUNCTION UNIT IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - R.R.

3

If faults are found, restore the wiring between the junction unit and the solenoid

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

If necessary, replace the wiring. The test may be considered over

Replace the junction unit

Op. 5505A13 ADDITIONAL JUNCTION UNIT IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - R.R.

4

Check that the voltage between pins 6 and 2 of the solenoid

See L064 FLOW MODIFYING SOLENOID VALVE

is greater than 11 V.

Move on to Step 6

Move on to Step 5
5

If faults are found, restore the wiring between the engine managment control unit and the solenoid

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

Replace the wiring if necessary

The test can be considered over

6

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Disconnect the cable loom connector from engine management control unit connector B

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check that the voltage between pin 45 of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and the earth is greater than 0.3 V.

Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine management control unit and the solenoid

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

7

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Check that the voltage between pin 45 of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and the earth is more than 500 kOhm

Repair or, if necessary, replace the electrical wiring between the engine management control unit and the solenoid

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

8

Check that the voltage between pin 45 of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and pin 1 of the solenoid

See L064 FLOW MODIFYING SOLENOID VALVE

is less than 5 Ohm

Repair or, if necessary, replace the electrical wiring between the engine management control unit and the solenoid

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

9

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check that the voltage between pin 35 of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and the earth is greater than 0.3 V.

Repair or, if necessary, replace the electrical wiring between the engine management control unit and the solenoid

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

10

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Check that the voltage between pin 35 of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and the earth is more than 500 kOhm

Repair or, if necessary, replace the electrical wiring between the engine management control unit and the solenoid

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

11

Check that the voltage between pin 35 of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and pin 5 of the solenoid

See L064 FLOW MODIFYING SOLENOID VALVE

is less than 5 Ohm
