SUPERCHARGING PRESSURE CHECK

Check 1060GF

1.9 JTD 8v, 1.9 JTD 16v, 2.4 JTD 20v

STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1

Turn the ignition key ON.

With the engine off and all users off, the Target Turbo Pressure must be within a range between 0.9 and 1.2 bars.

Under the same conditions, the Turbo Pressure reading must be in a range between 0.9 and 1.2 bars and in any case must be approximately equal to the external pressure

Move on to Step 4
2

With the engine idling and accelerator pedal not operated, the Target Turbo Pressure must be within a range between 0.9 and 1.2 bars.

Under the same conditions, the Measured Turbo Pressure must be within a range between 0.9 and 1.2 bars.

Move on to Step 4
3

With the accelerator pedal slightly operated and engine speed equal to 3000 rpm, the Target Turbo Pressure must be within a range between 10 and 23 bar.

Under the same conditions, the Measured Turbo Pressure must be within a range between 10 and 23 bar.

The test can be considered over

Move on to Step 4
4

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Disconnect the cable loom connector from the fuel pressure sensor.

See K083 FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR

Turn the ignition key ON.

Measure the voltage between regulator Pins 3 and 1

See N087 FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ON RAIL

Ensure that it is in a range between 4.8 and 5.2 V.

Move on to Step 6
5

If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the sensor

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

The test can be considered over

Replace the engine management control unit

Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - .R

6

Measure the voltage between sensor Pin 3 [EL_K083]

See K083 FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR

and earth. Ensure that it is in a range between 4.9 and 6.0 V.

Move on to Step 5
7

With the tester in Parameter mode

display the Measured Turbo Pressure Ensure it is in a range between 4.8 and 5.2 V

Replace the engine management control unit

Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - .R

8

Connect a shunt cable with a fuse between sensor Pin 3

See K083 FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR

and the earth.

Check that now the Measured Turbo Pressure is less than 0.3 V

Replace the engine management control unit

Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - .R

9

Replace the fuel pressure sensor

Op. 1060G28 FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR ON FUEL MANIFOLD TO INJECTORS - R.R
