Diagram showing parts 17, 18, 19, A, and B related to cutting wire handles and sealer removal
  1. Prepare cutting wire in handle A. Bend end of wire to handle and tape over end.
  2. Force cutting wire through sealer from inside and 100 mm from a top corner. Use a needle to make a hole if necessary.
  3. Attach handle B. Allow 200 mm of wire between handles, bend end of wire to tube and tape over end.
  4. With an assistant, wedge the tube of handle A between glass and trims ahead of cutting position to prevent damage and carefully cut sealer from flange using a straight pull along the glass from outside. At corners, use a sawing action.
  5. Attach suction cups to glass and lift glass from body flange.

WARNING: If glass has splintered: Protect eyes and operate demister blower at maximum speed to remove glass from heater ducts. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove glass from fascia, carpet and seats.

  2. Original glass: Carefully cut back old sealer to obtain a smooth surface without damaging painted surface. Remove old dam material from glass.

CAUTION: Lay glass on felt covered supports, do not stand on edge. Any chipping of glass edge may develop into cracks.

Diagram showing part 3, brackets attached to the body flange for supporting the glass
  1. Fit 2 brackets and tighten screws.
  2. Attach suction cups to glass, locate glass upright on brackets and then lay in position on the flange. Carefully centre on flange, apply tape from glass to body at each side and cut tape at glass edge for fitting reference. Remove glass from car.
  3. Apply cleaning solvent to 20 mm strip around glass and to body flange.
