DISPLAY DOES NOT SHOW RANGE ON TRIP MODULE
With the key ON, the fuel consumption gauge on the display (one of the displays on the TRIP COMPUTER module) is not operational.
The fuel consumption readings are processed by the instrument panel node on the basis of information received from the body computer node (mileage) and the engine control node (litre of fuel consumed) made available to the instrument panel node via the B-CAN and C-CAN networks respectively. This data is then adjusted proportionally according to the tank capacity programmed at the end of the line.
In the absence of speed information (from the Brake Node) or instantaneous fuel consumption data (from the Engine Control Node), the fuel consumption data will be replaced by the reading "----"

| 0 | PRELIMINARY CHECKS | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Interview the customer to check that the TRIP function has not been recently reset | Move on to Step 1 | The display reading will be "----" until sufficient distance has been covered to allow fuel consumption to be evaluated: if the figure is not displayed after a few kilometres this means that one of the TRIP COMPUTER functions has been reset | Move on to Step 1 | |
| 1 | CAN CHECKS | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
Connect an EXAMINER and check the following on CAN NETWORK INFORMATION:
| Move on to Step 2 | Fault on CAN network | Continue following the instructions given by the diagnostic equipment | |
| Communication with the Body Computer impossible | Move on to Step 9 | |||
| 2 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT. | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
Keeping the diagnostic instrument connected, check the following on the BRAKE NODE:
| Move on to Step 3 | System/components faulty | Continue following the instructions given by the diagnostic equipment | |
| Fault on C-CAN network | Move on to Step 11 | |||
| 3 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
Keeping the diagnostic instrument connected, check the following on the ENGINE CONTROL NODE:
| Move on to Step 4 | System/components faulty | Continue following the instructions given by the diagnostic equipment | |
| Fault on C-CAN network | Move on to Step 11 | |||
| 4 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
Keeping the diagnostic instrument connected, check the following on the INSTRUMENT PANEL NODE:
| Move on to Step 12 | System/components faulty | Continue following the instructions given by the diagnostic equipment | |
| Fault on C-CAN network | Move on to Step 11 | |||
| 5 | ACTIVE DIAGNOSIS CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| With the Examiner in Instrument Panel Node mode check that all segments of the LCD module are correctly activated in Active Diagnosis. | Move on to Step 8 | One or more segments do not activate | Replace the instrument panel | |
| Communication with the instrument panel impossible | Move on to Step 6 | |||
| 6 | ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check the electricity supply to the Instrument Panel Node is correct. | Move on to Step 7 | Fault in positive electrical supply and/or earth | Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow) | |
| 7 | ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check the wiring between the Body Computer and the Instrument Panel. In particular, check that each individual pin is properly connected. | Move on to Step 5 | Electrical connections not operational | Renew the damaged electrical connections | |
| 8 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Using an Examiner check, in Body Computer Node mode, that there are no errors. | Move on to Step 11 | Impossible to connect to the Body Computer control unit | Move on to Step 9 | |
| Presence of errors | Continue by following the instructions on the diagnostic instrument | |||
| 9 | ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check the electricity supply to the Body Computer Node is correct. | Move on to Step 10 | Fault in positive electrical supply and/or earth. | Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow). | |
| 10 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Use an Examiner to check the possibility of connection to the Body Computer Node | Move on to Step 8 | Impossible to connect to the Body Computer control unit. | Replace Body Computer | |
| 11 | CORRECT OPERATION CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check that the fault is no longer present | End of diagnosis | The fault persists | Replace Body Computer | |
| 12 | CORRECT OPERATION CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check that the fault is no longer present | End of diagnosis | Fault persists | Replace the instrument panel | |
