HEATER PLUGS WARNING LIGHT ON CONSTANTLY
The Engine Management Node sends a message via the C-CAN to the Body Computer, which makes it available via the B-CAN, to the Instrument Panel node.
| Test results | ||||
| 1 | PRELIMINARY CHECKS | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Connect an Examiner and check on CAN Network Information for the absence of:
| Move on to Step 6 | Impossible to communicate with the Body Computer | Move on to Step 2 | |
| Instrument Panel Node inactive and/or with error | Move on to Step 5 | |||
| Engine Control Node inactive and/or with error | Move on to Step 9 | |||
| Fault on CAN network | Move on to Step 13 | |||
| 2 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT. | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Use an Examiner to check the possibility of connection to the Body Computer Node, the lack of errors and the presenc of parameters | Move on to Step 1 | Impossible to connect to the Body Computer control unit | Move on to Step 3 | |
| Presence of errors | Move on to Step 6 | |||
| 3 | ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check that the power supply to the Body Compute Node is correct and the wiring between the nodes. Check in particular that each individual pin is correctly connected. | Move on to Step 4 | Fault in positive electrical supply and/or earth | Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow) | |
| Electrical connections not operational | Restore the damaged wiring to correct operation | |||
| 4 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Use an Examiner to check the possibility of connection to the Body Computer Node | Move on to Step 2 | Impossible to connect to the Body Computer | Replace Body Computer | |
| 5 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT. | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Using an Examiner check, in Instrument Panel mode, that there are no errors and that the parameters are present | Move on to Step 8 | System fault. | Move on to Step 6 | |
| Fault on CAN network | Move on to Step 13 | |||
| Presence of errors | Continue as described by the diagnostic equipment | |||
| 6 | ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check the power supply to the node is correct. Check the wiring between the Body Computer and the Instrument Panel. In particular, check that each individual pin is properly connected. | Move on to Step 7 | Fault in positive electrical supply and/or earth | Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow) | |
| Electrical connections not operational | Restore the damaged wiring to correct operation | |||
| 7 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Using an Examiner check, in Instrument Panel mode, that there are no errors and that the parameters are present | Move on to Step 8 | Fault persists. | Replace the instrument panel | |
| 8 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| With the Examiner in Instrument Panel Node mode, check that the heater plugs warning light is correctly activated in Active Diagnosis. | Move on to Step 9 | The heater plugs warning light does not flash | Replace the instrument panel | |
| 9 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
Keeping the diagnostic instrument connected, check the Engine Control Node for the absence of:
| Move on to Step 12 | System/components faulty | Move on to Step 10 | |
| Fault on CAN network | Move on to Step 13 | |||
| Presence of errors | Continue following the instructions given by the diagnostic equipment | |||
| 10 | ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check the power supply to the node is correct. Check the wiring between the Body Computer and the NCM. In particular, check that each individual pin is properly connected. | Move on to Step 11 | Fault in positive electrical supply and/or earth | Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow) | |
| Electrical connections not operational | Restore the damaged wiring to correct operation | |||
| 11 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Using an Examiner check, in Engine Control Node mode, that there are no errors and that the parameters are present. | Move on to Step 9 | Fault persists | Replace the Engine Management Node | |
| 12 | ACTIVE DIAGNOSIS CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| With the Examiner in Engine Control Node mode, check that the heater plugs warning light is correctly activated in Active Diagnosis. | Move on to Step 6 | The heater plugs warning light does not flash | Replace the Engine Management Node | |
| 13 | ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check the node power supply/electrical connections are correct. Check the (network) wiring between Engine Control, Body Computer and Instrument Panel. Check, in particular, that each individual pin is correctly connected to each node. | Move on to Step 1 | Fault in positive electrical supply and/or earth | Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow) | |
| Electrical connections not operational | Restore the damaged wiring to correct operation | |||
| 14 | CORRECT OPERATION CHECK | All OK | Problems encountered | Operation |
| Check that the fault is no longer present | End of diagnosis | Fault persists | Move on to Step 1 | |
