P0403 - EGR VALVE (SC TO EARTH)

1.9 JTD 8v, 1.9 JTD 16v, 2.4 JTD 20v

The diagnostic equipment signals: Error P0403 (EGR valve), with detail "short circuit to earth"

This error is detected if there is a short circuit to earth in the circuit connected to Pin 60 of the junction unit.

As a result, the maximum power is reduced, the exhaust gas circulation valve is switched off and the supercharging pressure can longer be controlled.

	Check, in the junction unit under the dashboard, that fuse F35 has not blown (it is the second from the right in the top row) See B002 JUNCTION UNIT UNDER DASHBOARD	Move on to Step 2	The fuse has blown	Continue carrying out the See Test 1064BE SUPERCHARGING VALVE PROTECTIVE FUSE CHECK
2	Air circuit check	ALL OK	PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED	ACTION
	Check the seal of the inlet/supercharging system hoses. Check the hoses and connected pipes to identify any obstructions, damage etc. Check that the pipe restriction bands in the air intake/inlet system are correctly fitted.	Move on to Step 3	Connections faulty, obstructions or porousness	Renew or, if necessary, replace the faulty components
3	EGR valve operation check	ALL OK	PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED	ACTION
	Check that the EGR valve is working properly by carrying out the See Test 1080CB E.G.R. SOLENOID FUNCTIONAL TEST	End of diagnosis
