Selector cable adjust (Automatic gearbox - JF403E)

SELECTOR CABLE ADJUST

Service repair no - 44.30.04

1. Remove centre console. See BODY, Repairs.

2. Loosen connector locknut.
3. Remove lock pin from cable connector.
4. Push selector cable inner cable fully forward into ’P’ position.
5. Whilst guiding connector onto selector cable inner cable, move selector lever into ’P’ position.
6. Rotate connector until hole in connector aligns with hole in inner cable.

NOTE: Selector cable has holes at 90° intervals to allow adjustment in 1/4 turn increments.

7. Fit a slave pin, 3.85 - 3.95 mm in diameter, through hole in connector and hole in selector cable.
8. With slave pin in position, move selector lever through its working arc; from ’P’ to ’1’ and back to ’P’.
9. Remove slave pin.

NOTE: Pin should pass through both holes without binding. If binding exists repeat adjustment.

10. Fit lock pin.
11. Tighten connector locknut to 7 Nm.
12. Move selector lever through its working arc; from ’P’ to ’1’ and back to ’P’ checking that all gear positions are available.
13. Fit centre console. See BODY, Repairs.
