  1. Release cover at gearbox end of speedometer cable.

  1. Remove cable securing clip.
  2. Release cable from gearbox.

Refit

  1. Fit tape to end of new cable.
  2. Fit grommet to cable.
  3. Position cable in vehicle.
  4. Feed cable through bulkhead.
  5. Fit grommet to bulkhead.
  6. Gently ease down demist duct, feed the cable over pedal bracket and through steering column support bracket.

  1. Draw speedometer cable through grommet and ensure that coloured tape abuts grommet.
  2. Remove tape from end of cable.
  3. Fit instrument pack.
  4. Clean cable ends.
  5. Connect upper and lower cables.
  6. 1.4 K8: Tighten nut upper to lower cable to 9 Nm.
