FUEL RESERVE WARNING LIGHT ON (WITH HIGHER LEVEL)
The Engine Management Node sends a message via the C-CAN to the Body Computer, which makes it available via the B-CAN, to the Instrument Panel node.
Faults in the C-CAN network will turn on the warning lights of the control units that communicate on this network. Verification of the CAN Network Information is intended to detect this situation
| 0 | PRELIMINARY CHECKS | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Check that the fuel level gauge reading is not in the reserve condition | Move on to Step 1 | Fuel level gauge on reserve | Top up the fuel to the correct level. | |
| 1 | CHECKS USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
Connect an Examiner and check on CAN Network Information for the absence of:
| Move on to Step 6 | 1. Impossible to communicate with the Body Computer | 1. Move on to Step 3 | |
| 2. Instrument Panel Node inactive and/or with error | 2. Move on to Step 5 | |||
| 3. Fault on CAN network | 3. Move on to Step 10 | |||
| 2 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
| Check, using the Examiner, that it is possible to connect with the Body Computer Node, that there are no errors and that the following parameters are present. | Move on to Step 3 | 1. Impossible to connect to the Body Computer control unit. | 1. Move on to Step 3. | |
| 2. Presence of errors | 2. Continue as described by the diagnostic equipment | |||
| 3 | ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECK | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
| Check that the power supply to the Body Compute Node is correct and the wiring between the nodes. Check in particular that each individual pin is correctly connected. | Move on to Step 4 | 1. Fault in positive electrical supply and/or earth | 1. Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow). | |
| 2. Electrical connections not operational | 2. Restore the damaged wiring to correct operation. | |||
| 4 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
| Use an Examiner to check the possibility of connection to the Body Computer Node | Move on to Step 5 | Impossible to connect to the Body Computer. | Replace Body Computer | |
| 5 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
| Using an Examiner check, in Instrument Panel mode, that there are no errors and that the parameters are present. | Move on to Step 8 | 1. System fault | 1. Move on to Step 6 | |
| 2. Fault on CAN network | 2. Move on to Step 8 | |||
| 3. Presence of errors. | 3. Continue as described by the diagnostic equipment | |||
| 6 | ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECK | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
| Check the electricity supply to the node is correct. Check the wiring between the Body Computer and the Instrument Panel. In particular, check that each individual pin is properly connected. | Move on to Step 7 | 1. Fault in positive electrical supply and/or earth | 1. Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow). | |
| 2. Electrical connections not operational | 2. Restore the damaged wiring to correct operation. | |||
| 7 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
| Using an Examiner check, in Instrument Panel mode, that there are no errors and that the parameters are present. | Move on to Step 8 | Fault persists | Replace the Instrument Panel | |
| 8 | ACTIVE DIAGNOSIS CHECK | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
| With the Examiner in the Instrument Panel Node ambient check that the fuel reserve warning light is correctly activated in Active Diagnosis | Move on to Step 9 | The reserve warning light does not flash | Replace the Instrument Panel | |
| 9 | FUEL LEVEL GAUGE CHECK | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
Check the level gauge is working properly | Move on to Step 10 | Level gauge defective | Change the level gauge Op. 1040A70 SUBMERGED PUMP ASSEMBLY COMPLETE WITH LEVEL GAUGE CONTROL - R + R | |
| 10 | ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECK | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
| Check that the power supply / electrical connection(s) for the node(s) is/are correct. Check the (network) wiring between the Body Computer and Instrument Panel, in particular that each pin is correctly connected at each node | Move on to Step 11 | 1. Fault in positive electrical supply and/or earth | 1. Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow). | |
| 2. Electrical connections not operational | 2. Restore the damaged wiring to correct operation. | |||
