10. Install in the reverse order, and;

• if installing a new compressor, drain all the refrigerant oil from the removed compressor and measure its volume. Subtract the volume of the drained oil from 160cc (5 1/3fl oz, 5 1/3 Imp oz); the result is the amount of oil that should be drained from the new compressor (through the suction fitting).
• replace the 'O' rings with new ones at each fitting, and apply a thin coat of refrigerant oil prior to installation.

Note: Be sure to use the correct 'O' rings for R134a to avoid leakage.

• use (Nippondenso Densoil 8) oil for R134a Nippondenso piston type compressors only.
• to avoid contamination do not return the oil to the container once dispensed and never mix with other refrigerant oils.
• replace the cap on the container immediately after using the oil and seal it to avoid moisture absorption.
• do not spill the refrigerant oil on the car; it may damage the paint; if the refrigerant oil contacts the paint wash it off immediately.
• do not damage the radiator fins when installing the compressor.
• adjust A/C compressor belt tension.
• adjust the power steering pump belt, see STEERING.
• charge the system and test its performance.

1. A Pulley

• Check the pulley bearing play and drag by rotating the pulley by hand. Replace the clutch set with a new one if it is noisy or has excessive play/drag.

• Measure the clearance between the pulley and pressure plate all the way round. If the clearance is not within specified limits, the pressure plate must be removed and shims added or removed as required, see Compressor clutch overhaul.
  CLEARANCE; 0.5 ÷ 0.15mm (0.0200 ÷ 0.006in)
  Note: The shims are available in three thicknesses; 0.1mm, 0.3mm and 0.5mm.
