Inflating device
The inflating device consists of an aluminium wrapping that contains:
- a deceleration sensor
- a detonator
- a chemical compound in tablets.
OPERATION
The deceleration sensor is a mechanism that, when the deceleration exceeds a certain threshold, releases a striker that triggers the chemical compound to produce gas (nitrogen) to inflate the cushion, that swells immediately.
The cushion opening and inflation takes place after the cover breaks along the predetermined points as the pressure of the gas, filtered and cooled by appropriate filters, exceeds a certain level.
The cushion deflation, after inflation by the gas, takes place soon after by means of the holes in the actual cushion fabric.
SAFETY DEVICES
The inflating device is protected from accidental triggering caused by knocks during transport or handling by a pin that has a milled hole and a cam that locks the movement of the striker (Device not armoured).
When the device is assembled on the adapter ring the milled hole couples with the pin, suitably milled, on the ring itself. When the inflating device is rotated clockwise by 45°, to lock it in the bayonet fitting, the cam rotates, releasing the lever movement so that the system is operational(Device armoured).
