System Components
The alarm system consists of:
- radiofrequency receiver incorporated in the ceiling light;
- radiofrequency sender (remote control);
- volumetric control sensors incorporated in the ceiling light;
- door and front/rear bonnet/boot sensors ;
- alarm ECU, located in the engine compartment under the E.I. ECU, that includes a self powered siren;
- emergency key switch (ON-OFF), on the alarm ECU in the engine compartment under the E.I. ECU.
NOTE The radiofrequency remote control facilitates the activation and memorising operations since this system, in comparison to infra-red beam systems, has a wider range of action, it is not directional and is not influence by a poor transparency of the windows.
ALARM SYSTEM COMPONENTS
The alarm system consists of
- an ECU with incorporated siren
- a remote controlled receiver
- two (or more) radiofrequency remote controls
- volumetric sensors
- deterrent LED (device activated indicator)
- emergency key
- switch to open engine compartment
- switch to open luggage compartment
- switch to open doors (the switches for the ceiling lights are used).
ALARM ECU
This is the main unit of the system. It controls and processes the signals coming from:
- luggage compartment sensor;
- engine compartment sensor;
- door opening/closing sensors (ceiling light switches);
- volumetric sensors;
- ignition switch.
ALARM SIREN
This is a compact self-powering siren, built into the control unit.
The intensity of the siren sound depends on the country of the vehicle registration (see “COUNTRY CODE PROGRAMMING”)
NOTE The siren is shut off by pressing the remote control button for more than 4 seconds when the alarm is activated.
RECEIVER
The receiver, built into the front ceiling light, is an electronic device that receives the signal coming from the remote control. It controls the opening/closing of the doors and activates the alarm ECU.
Each receiver can be programmed with one or more remote controls (but it remembers only the last eight entered) memorising the relevant codes.
There is a LED (A) on the receiver that lights up when a signal is received, while a special button (C) is for the code memorising.
When the receivers are installed in the vehicle they contain a “UNIVERSAL” code that is useful for production end-of-line tests.
When the vehicle is handed over to the customer it is necessary to personalise the receiver, replacing the “UNIVERSAL” code with those of the remote controls supplied with the vehicle(see “PROGRAMMING” further on).
