Removing

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R..

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

- 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 1088E10 radiator cooling fan - r + r

- 1072C44 exhaust manifold heat shield on bulkhead - r+r

1. Undo the nuts securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold.

Raise the car.

2. Disconnect electrical connections (2a) and (2b) from the Lambda probes.

3. Undo the nuts on the flange (3a) and the bolts on the mounting bracket (3b).

4. Remove the catalytic preconverter.

Place the car on a ramp.

Raise the lift.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 1076B50 exhaust pipe attachment to engine - r + r

- 1072C44 exhaust manifold heat shield on bulkhead - r+r

1. Undo the bolts securing the reinforcing bracket to the preconverter.

2. Undo the bolt securing the coupling band to the turbocharger.

3. Remove the catalytic preconverter from the bottom of the engine compartment.

1.9 JTD 16v

Removing

Place the car on a lift.

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r.

- 1072C44 exhaust manifold heat shield on bulkhead - r+r

1. Undo the nuts securing the first exhaust pipe section to the preconverter flange.

2. Undo the bolts securing the preconverter to the reinforcement bracket.

2.4 20v

Refitting

Fit the catalytic preconverter.

Tighten the nuts to the flange and mounting bracket.

Connect the lamba probe electrical connections.

Lower the vehicle.

Tighten the nuts securing the catalytic converter to the central flexible section of the hose pipe.

- 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r

Connect the battery negative terminal.

1.9 JTD 8v · 115 CV

Fit the catalytic preconverter and tighten the band securing it to the turbocharger.

Tighten to torque the bolt securing the preconverter collar to the turbocompressor.

Tighten to torque the bolts securing the reinforcing bracket to the preconverter.

Fit the catalytic preconverter heat shield.

Tighten the bolts securing the shield to the exhaust pipe.

- 1076B50 exhaust pipe attachment to engine - r + r

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

Lower the lift.

Remove the vehicle from the ramp.

1.9 JTD 16v

1. Loosen the collar (1a) and remove the catalytic preconverter (1b).

2. Keep the catalytic preconverter mounting bracket.

Refitting

Fit the catalytic pre-converter and secure it to the turbocharger with its collar.

Tighten the bolts and the nuts fixing the catalytic preconverter mounting bracket.

Remove the vehicle from the ramp.
