1.3 Multijet

Removing

- Position the vehicle on a lift.

- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

1. Disconnect the engine rpm sensor electrical connection.

2. Undo the retaining bolt (2a) and remove the engine rpm sensor (2b).

Refitting

1. Position the engine rpm sensor (1a) and tighten the bolt (1b) to the specified torque.

2. Connect the engine rpm sensor electrical connection.

- If the rpm sensor is being replaced with a new one, the self-learning procedure must be carried out.

- This operation is necessary to guarantee that the strategy is working properly and consequently the parameters for calculating the cylinder balance by measuring the angular acceleration calculated for each cylinder are updated.

To carry out this procedure, it is necessary to:

• connect the diagnostic equipment;
• with the engine off, turn the ignition key to the ON position;
• following the instructions given by the diagnostic equipment for this procedure;
• at the end of the operation, turn the ignition OFF and wait until the data has been memorized;
• start the engine and let it idle.

- Connect the negative battery terminal.

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.
