CHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1

Turn the ignition key ON.

With the engine off and all users off the measured Air Mass must be in a range between 0 and 1 kg/h

Move on to Step 5
2With the engine idling and warmed up, with the EGR valve closed and accelerator pedal not operated, the measured Air Mass must be in a range between 40 and 60 kg/hMove on to Step 5
3With all users off, when the accelerator pedal is pumped several times, the measured Air Mass must be seen to alter in a short time.Move on to Step 5
4With the EGR Valve open and accelerator pedal not operated, the Measured Air Mass must be in a range between 20 and 40 kg/h. The test may be said to be completedMove on to Step 5
5

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the air flow meter.

Turn the ignition key ON.

Measure the voltage between Pin 1 (wiring side) of the gauge and Earth, ensuring it is greater than 11 V.

See K041 AIR FLOW METER

Move on to Step 7

Move on to Step 6
6

If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine compartment junction unit and the debimeter.

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

The test can be considered over

Replace the junction unit

Op. 5505A13 ADDITIONAL JUNCTION UNIT IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - R.R.

7

Measure the voltage between Pins 1 and 2 (wiring side) of the gauge and Earth, ensuring it is greater than 11 V.

See K041 AIR FLOW METER

Move on to Step 9

Move on to Step 8
8

If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the debimeter.

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

The test can be considered over

Replace the engine management control unit

Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - .R

9

Measure the voltage between Pin 4 (wiring side) of the gauge and Earth, ensuring it is in a range between 4.8 and 5.2 V.

See K041 AIR FLOW METER

Move on to Step 8
10

Replace the debimeter and check the fault has disappeared

Op. 1060G10 AIR FLOW METER - R.R.

Repair the original debimeter and replace the engine management control unit.

STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1With the engine idling and warmed up, with the EGR valve closed and accelerator pedal not operated, the measured Air Mass must be in a range between 10 and 22 kg/hMove on to Step 4
2With all the appliances off, the measured air mass must be greater than 20 kg/h when the accelerator pedal is operated slightly.Move on to Step 4
3

When the accelerator pedal is left without operating for at least 70 seconds, the measured air mass must be in a range between 25 and 35 kg/h.

The test can be considered over

Move on to Step 4
4

Check the tightening and connections of the oil dipstick and the engine oil filler cap

Op. 0010T11 ENGINE OIL - CHECK LEVEL AND TOP UP, IF NECESSARY

Restore the seal and tightness
5

Check that the seal of the intake/turbo system hoses is efficient (secondary air, blockages and porosity)

Check that the pipe restriction bands in the air intake/inlet system are correctly fitted.

Check the hoses and connected pipes to identify any obstructions, damage etc.

Repair the faulty connections/components
6

Check that the air filter is not contaminated and is correctly fitted

Op. 1048A10 AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY - R.R.

Clean or, if necessary, replace the wiring

Op. 1060G10 AIR FLOW METER - R.R.

7Check that the exhaust system components are correctly fastenedRepair the faulty connections/components
8

Check that the EGR valve is working properly by carrying out the

See Test 1080CB EGR SOLENOID OPERATION CHECK

9

Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.

Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the air flow meter.

Measure the voltage across gauge Pin 2

and Earth, checking it is greater than 11 V

Move on to Step 16

Move on to Step 10
10

Remove fuse F59 (second from the left on the second row from the bottom) from the engine compartment junction unit and check it has not blown.

Move on to Step 14

Move on to Step 11
11

Turn off all the electrical users.

Release any gear (neutral)

Fit a new fuse F59 and check it does not blow.

Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine compartment junction unit and the debimeter

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

12Engage reverse and check tha fuse F59 does not blowReplace the reversing light relay
13

Replace the debimeter
