SUPERCHARGING PRESSURE CHECK
| STEP | CHECK TO BE PERFORMED | RESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Turn the ignition key ON. With the engine off and all users off, the Target Turbo Pressure must be within a range between 0.9 and 1.2 bars. Under the same conditions, the Turbo Pressure reading must be in a range between 0.9 and 1.2 bars and in any case must be approximately equal to the external pressure | Move on to Step 4 |
| 2 | With the engine idling and accelerator pedal not operated, the Target Turbo Pressure must be within a range between 0.9 and 1.2 bars. Under the same conditions, the Measured Turbo Pressure must be within a range between 0.9 and 1.2 bars. | Move on to Step 4 |
| 3 | With the accelerator pedal slightly operated and engine speed equal to 3000 rpm, the Target Turbo Pressure must be within a range between 10 and 23 bars. Under the same conditions, the Measured Turbo Pressure must be within a range between 10 and 23 bars. The test can be considered over | Move on to Step 4 |
| 4 | Turn the ignition key OFF. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the fuel pressure sensor. Turn the ignition key ON. Measure the voltage between regulator (wiring side) Pins 3 and 1 Ensure that it is in a range between 4.8 and 5.2 V. | Move on to Step 6 |
| 5 | If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the sensor See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT The test can be considered over | Replace the engine management control unit |
| 6 | Measure the voltage between sensor Pin 3 (wiring side) and earth. Ensure that it is in a range between 4.9 and 6.0 V. | Move on to Step 5 |
| 7 | With the tester in Parameter mode display the Measured Turbo Pressure Ensure it is in a range between 4.8 and 5.2 V | Replace the engine management control unit |
| 8 | Connect a shunt cable with a fuse between sensor Pin 3 (wiring side) and the earth. Check that now the Measured Turbo Pressure is less than 0.3 V | Replace the engine management control unit |
| 9 | Replace the fuel pressure sensor Op. 1060G28 FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR ON FUEL MANIFOLD TO INJECTORS - R.R |
| STEP | CHECK TO BE PERFORMED | RESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Turn the ignition key ON. With the engine off and all appliances off, the measured turbo pressure should be in a range between 0.9 and 1.1 bars and must be equal to the exterior pressure. Under the same conditions, turbo pressure AD/C should be in a range between 1.5 and 2.0 V | Move on to Step 3 |
| 2 | With the accelerator pedal slightly operated and engine speed equal to 3500 rpm, the measured Turbo pressure should be greater than 1.1 bars. Under the same conditions, turbo pressure AD/C must be greater than 2.0 V. The test can be considered over | Move on to Step 3 |
| 3 | Turn the ignition key OFF. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the turbo sensor. Turn the ignition key ON. Measure the voltage between sensor Pin 1 and earth. Ensure that it is in a range between 4.8 and 5.2 V. Move on to Step 5 | Move on to Step 4 |
| 4 | If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the sensor See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT The test can be considered over | Replace the engine management control unit |
| 5 | Measure the voltage between sensor Pins 1 and 3 Ensure that it is in a range between 4.8 and 5.2 V. | Move on to Step 4 |
| 6 | Check that turbo pressure AD/C is in a range between 4.8 and 5.2 V. Move on to Step 8 | Move on to Step 7 |
| 7 | Check that turbo pressure AD/C is greater than 5.2 V. Move on to Step 4 | Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the sensor |
| 8 | Turn the ignition key OFF. Connect a shunt connection cable with a fuse between Pins 1 and 4 of the sensor Turn the ignition key ON. Check that turbo pressure AD/C is less than 0.3 V. | Move on to Step 4 |
| 9 | Check the correct mechanical operation (seals, leaks, blockages, breaks) of the turbocharging circuit | Repair or, if necessary, replace the faulty components |
| 10 | Replace the turbo sensor |
