INTEGRATED THROTTLE BODY OPERATION CHECK

Check 1060GO

1.9 Multijet

STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the built-in throttle body actuator.

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check that the resistance across pin 2 (wiring side) of the actuator

See N075 THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR

and the earth is greater than 11 V.

Move on to Step 4

Move on to Step 2
2

Turn the ignition key OFF.

In the engine compartment junction unit, remove fuse F27 (fourth from the top in the left row)

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check the voltage between the inlet contact of fuse F27 and earth. Ensure it is greater than 11 V.

Replace the junction unit

Op. 5505A13 ADDITIONAL JUNCTION UNIT IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - R.R.

3

If faults are found, restore the wiring between the junction unit and the actuator

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

Replace the wiring if necessary

The test can be considered over

Replace the junction unit

Op. 5505A13 ADDITIONAL JUNCTION UNIT IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - R.R.

4

Check that the resistance across pins 1 and 2 (wiring side) of the actuator

See N075 THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR

is greater than 11 V.

Move on to Step 6

Move on to Step 5
5

If faults are found, restore the wiring between the engine control unit and the throttle body actuator

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

Replace the wiring if necessary

The test can be considered over

Replace the engine management control unit

Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - .R

6

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Disconnect the wiring harness connector from engine control unit connector B

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check that the resistance across pin 59 (wiring side) of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and the earth is greater than 0.3 V.

Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the throttle body actuator

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

7

Check that the resistance across pin 52 (wiring side) of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and the earth is greater than 0.3 V.

Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the throttle body actuator

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

8

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Check that the resistance between pin 59 (wiring side) of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and the earth is more than 500 kOhm.

Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the throttle body actuator

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

9

Check that the resistance between pin 52 (wiring side) of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and the earth is more than 500 kOhm.

Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the throttle body actuator

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

10

Check that the resistance between pin 59 (wiring side) of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and pin 6 of the actuator

See N075 THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR

is less than 5 Ohms

Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the throttle body actuator

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

11

Check that the resistance between pin 52 (wiring side) of the control unit

See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

and pin 4 of the actuator

See N075 THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR

is less than 5 Ohms

Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the throttle body actuator

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

12

Remove the throttle body.

Op. 1060G50 THROTTLE BODY - R.R

and check for machining swarf or dirt blocking movement of the motorised throttle

Clean the throttle body using a brush dipped in diesel to dissolve the dirt and remove any swarf
13

Replace the throttle body.

Op. 1060G50 THROTTLE BODY - R.R

and check the fault has disappeared

Repair the original throttle body and replace the engine control unit
