Operation 1088C10 · Water pump and thermostat

1.4 16v

Removing

Place the car on a lift.

- 1008B10 power unit front mount (timing side) flexible block - replace

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 1008A46 cam shaft left rigid mount - r r

- 1032D12 timing system protective cover(s) - r + r

- 1092B60 alternator drive belt - r + r

- 1092A10 Crankshaft services PULLEY - R.R.

- 1048A10 air cleaner filtering element - replace

- 1056B60 single fuel manifold pipe, with injectors - r + r

- 1032B10 toothed timing belt - r + r for timing adjustment or replacement

- 1088C14 water pump - r + r with drive belt removed

1.6 16v

Removing

Place the vehicle on a ramp.

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

- 4450B10 Front WHEEL (one) - R.R. (Right side).

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R. (Right side).

1. Disconnect the lower coolant inlet hose from the radiator, radiator side.

Compress the clips by hand and withdraw the quick-release fitting to disconnect the sleeve.

Collect the coolant in a suitable container.

2.4 20v

Removing

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r.

- 1092D10 air conditioner compressor drive belt - r + r

- 1092B68 belt from a/c compressor to alternator drive r + r

- 1032B10 toothed timing belt - r + r for timing adjustment or replacement

- 1088C14 water pump - r + r with drive belt removed.

1.9 JTD 16v

Removing

Place the car on a lift.

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 1092G10 single engine belt r r

- 1092G14 engine component single belt mobile tensioner - r + r

- 1092G21 engine component single belt fixed tensioner - r rwith belt removed

- 1032D12 timing system protective cover(s) - r + r

- 1088C14 water pump - r + r with drive belt removed

1.4 16v

Refitting

- 1088C14 water pump - r + r with drive belt removed

- 1032B10 toothed timing belt - r + r for timing adjustment or replacement

- 1056B60 single fuel manifold pipe, with injectors - r + r

- 1048A10 air cleaner filtering element - replace

- 1092A10 Crankshaft services PULLEY - R.R.

- 1092B60 alternator drive belt - r + r

- 1092B64 alternator drive belt - adjust tension

- 1032D12 timing system protective cover(s) - r + r

- 1008A46 cam shaft left rigid mount - r r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

- 1008B10 power unit front mount (timing side) flexible block - replace

- 0010T20 coolant change

Remove the vehicle from the lift.

1.6 16v

- 1080B94 front lambda probe with catalitic converter r r

Undo the fixing bolts and move aside the heat shield on the exhaust manifold.

- 1092B50 alternator/air conditioner compressor drive belt - adjust tension

1. Undo the top fixing bolt.

2. Slacken the bottom fixing bolt.

3. Rotate the alternator downwards to gain access to the water pump fastenings.

2.4 20v

Refitting

- 1088C14 water pump - r + r with drive belt removed

- 1032B10 toothed timing belt - r + r for timing adjustment or replacement

- 1092B68 belt from a/c compressor to alternator drive r + r

- 1092D10 air conditioner compressor drive belt - r + r

- 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r.

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

1.9 JTD 16v

Refitting

- 1088C14 water pump - r + r with drive belt removed

- 1032D12 timing system protective cover(s) - r + r

- 1092G21 engine component single belt fixed tensioner - r rwith belt removed

- 1092G14 engine component single belt mobile tensioner - r + r

- 1092G10 single engine belt r r

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

Connect the battery negative terminal.

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r

- 4450B04 right front wheel r r

Remove the vehicle from the lift.

1.6 16v

1. Undo the bolts fixing the rigid coolant inlet pipe to the water pump, water pump side.

2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the water pump (2b) complete with support.

Refitting

Place the water pump back in its housing and fix it tightening the bolts to the recommended torque.

Tighten the bolts fixing the rigid coolant inlet pipe to the water pump, water pump side, to the recommended torque.

Place the alternator back in its housing and secure it using the bolts.

- 1092B50 alternator/air conditioner compressor drive belt - adjust tension

- 1092B54 alternator/water pump drive belt - adjust tension

Position the exhaust manifold heat shield and secure it by tightening the fixing bolts.

- 1080B94 front lambda probe with catalitic converter r r

Connect the lower coolant outlet hose from the radiator, radiator side.

- 7055B42 Additional FRONT WHEEL ARCH (one), left or right - R.R. (Right side).

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

- 4450B10 Front WHEEL (one) - R.R. (Right side).

Connect the battery's negative terminal.

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

- 1016A10 sound-proofing cover - r + r

Remove the car from the ramp.

Fill the cooling system with coolant.
