Coolant temperature sensor
The sensor is an encapsulated thermistor held against the heater matrix by a spring clip. The sensor measures coolant temperature at the heater. Information from this sensor allows the ATC unit to adjust the blend, recirculate/fresh mode and volume controls to obtain the best performance compromise during warm-up. The sensor is energised from the control unit via the link harness.
Evaporator temperature sensor
Mounted in the evaporator case attached to the evaporator matrix. The sensor is a thermistor which measures the air temperature leaving the evaporator. When the sensor detects that the temperature is above 4 °C it will signal the ATC unit to energise the air conditioning system. The sensor is energised from the ATC unit via the link harness.
Automatic temperature control unit
Mounted in the instrument binnacle. The unit is screwed to the back of the binnacle surround and supported on the heater control mounting plate in the fascia. The unit contains the microprocessor and interface/servo-driver electronics needed to control the system. On its front face are the display and control switches which enable driver control selections to be made.
