ATC SWITCH FUNCTIONS
The Automatic Temperature Control system consists of three main systems:
a. Air conditioning b. Heating c. Control
The air conditioning system and the heating system work together to produce thermally conditioned air. For the purpose of this description both will be considered as one device known as THERMAL CONDITIONER. The role played by each part will be identified at the appropriate points.
So, for the purpose of the description we can consider the ATC system to consist of a thermal conditioning unit with a computerised control system.
The function of the systems will be described in general terms in regard to a selection of operating conditions and one or two special cases.
Refer to the Switch Layout illustration for number reference. The pack has been designed so that whenever the battery is reconnected and the ignition switched on, the system is in ’OFF’ mode, recirculation and blower off, with AUTO 72 °F stored
in memory.
Switching off the ignition leaves the pack in a waiting state, it remembers its last setting. To switch the pack on the ignition must be on, press any button except HRW - 6 and EXT - 10, these two buttons operate whether the computer is ON or OFF.
The response depends upon which button is used. It is possible, however, to group the switches into basic responses:
- CONTROL SWITCHES - 1,2,3,4,5, 9, 12, and 13: these are the manual override switches. If any of these are used, that particular function will override and all other unselected functions will remain under AUTO control.
- AUTO SWITCH - 7, AUTO switch selected, fully automatic control of all functions at temperature setpoint with air conditioning operating where necessary..
- OFF SWITCH - 8, display illuminated, the pack will either resume previous settings or, following a battery reconnection, operate in AUTO at 72 °F.
- + - SWITCH - 11, the rocker switch will change the LCD display one degree °C or °F, all other functions will be as previously selected.
