Camshaft Housing Replacement

Special Tools

EN-46781   Fixing Tool

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Removal Procedure

1. Remove camshaft housing cover gasket. Refer to Camshaft Housing Cover Gasket Replacement .
2. Remove vacuum pump. Refer to Vacuum Pump Removal .
3. Remove fuel injection pump. Refer to Fuel Injection Pump Removal .
4. Remove camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Removal .

5. Remove 2 engine sight shield studs (1) from camshaft housing (2).

6. Remove the exhaust cylinder head core hole plug (2) from camshaft housing (1).
7. Remove the intake cylinder head core hole plug (3) from camshaft housing (1).
8. Clean the threads from cylinder head core hole plugs and camshaft housing.

9. Mark (arrow) at the EN-46781   fixing tool (1).

Note:  EN-46781   fixing tool (1) must be installed in horizontal position.
10. Install EN-46781   fixing tool (1) on exhaust side and intake side.

11. Remove exhaust camshaft sprocket bolt (2).
12. Remove exhaust camshaft sprocket (3).
13. Remove EN-46781   fixing tool on exhaust side.
14. Remove exhaust camshaft (1).

15. Remove intake camshaft sprocket bolt (1).
16. Remove intake camshaft sprocket (2).
17. Remove EN-46781   fixing tool on intake side.
18. Remove intake camshaft (3).

Installation Procedure

Note:  Clean the contact surfaces from camshaft , camshaft sprocket and camshaft sprocket bolt
 Coat camshaft bearing surfaces with engine oil.
1. Install intake camshaft (3).
2. Install EN-46781   fixing tool on intake side
3. Install intake camshaft sprocket (2).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution .
4. Install intake camshaft sprocket bolt (1) and tighten to 150 N·m (111 lb ft) .

Note:  Clean the contact surfaces from camshaft , camshaft sprocket and camshaft sprocket bolt
 Coat camshaft bearing surfaces with engine oil.
5. Install exhaust camshaft (1).
6. Install EN-46781   fixing tool on exhaust side
7. Install exhaust camshaft sprocket (3).
8. Install exhaust camshaft sprocket bolt (2) and tighten to 150 N·m (111 lb ft) .
9. Remove EN-46781   fixing tool from exhaust side.

10. Install the exhaust cylinder head core hole plug (2) to camshaft housing (1).

11. Install 2 engine sight shield studs (1) to camshaft housing (2) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in) .
12. Install camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Installation .
13. Install fuel injection pump. Refer to Fuel Injection Pump Installation .
14. Install vacuum pump. Refer to Vacuum Pump Installation .
15. Install camshaft housing cover gasket. Refer to Camshaft Housing Cover Gasket Replacement .
