Thermostat Bypass Pipe Replacement Removal Procedure Warning: With a pressurized cooling system, the coolant temperature in the radiator can be considerably higher than the boiling point of the solution at atmospheric pressure. Removal of the surge tank cap, while the cooling system is hot and under high pressure, causes the solution to boil instantaneously with explosive force. This will cause the solution to spew out over the engine, the fenders, and the person removing the cap. Serious bodily injury may result. 1. Open the hood. 2. Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement .            3. Remove exhaust pressure sensor pipe (2). 4. Remove 2 bracket bolts (1) and lay pressure sensor pipe aside. 5. Remove engine coolant thermostat. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement .            6. Remove thermostat bypass pipe (2). 7. Remove bolt (3) from bracket bypass pipe. 8. Remove 2 bolts (1) from oil cooler. 9. Remove thermostat bypass pipe (2) and gasket (4). Installation Procedure            1. Install NEW thermostat bypass pipe gasket (4). 2. Install thermostat bypass pipe (2). Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution . 3. Install 2 bolts (1) to oil cooler and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in) . 4. Install bolt (3) to bracket bypass pipe and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in) . 5. Install engine coolant thermostat. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement .            6. Install exhaust pressure sensor pipe (2). 7. Install 2 bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in) . 8. Install the turbocharger. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement . 9. Close the hood.
